October 24th is Take Back Your Time Day, an annual event to create a national dialogue about the costs of overwork and overscheduling and to celebrate slowing down and taking back time.
Conscious Consuming will host a potluck to build awareness of the issues of time poverty and the "Time to Care" agenda. We will gather from 6:00-9:00pm on October 21st at a table in metro Boston to educate attendees about Take Back Your Time Day, and to discuss strategies for taking back our time.
We will also be organizing a petition to press legislators to endorse the "Time to Care" public policy agenda. The Time to Care agenda seeks to guarantee the following worker benefits: paid leave for all parents for the birth or adoption of a child, at least one week of paid sick time, at least three weeks of paid annual vacation, a limit on compulsory overtime, a national holiday on Election Day, and policies that would make it easier for Americans to choose part time work.
We need volunteers to help get signatures, so if you can, attend the event; if you can't attend, we can email everything you need to collect signatures in your neighborhood or workplace. Email us if you can help.
